Retreats & Experiences Terms & Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions apply to a Guest (You) visiting and use of a facility (and associated pool, recreation and other facilities) hosted by Good Journeying Pty Ltd. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully as they form the basis on which bookings and attendance to Good Journeying’s retreats and experiences are accepted. The Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings and visits (regardless of how the booking or visit is secured). We may revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time by updating this web page. The revised Terms and Conditions will take effect when they are posted.

Arrival & Departure Policy:

  • We offer clear arrival and departure instructions and detail upon confirmation of the booking to fit with our tightly scheduled program. Regardless of whether you are a new or a returning guest, we have the right to cancel a stay or suggest finding alternative accommodation for the first night if you are unable to arrive within the agreed Check-In time frame (after 2:30pm) and prior to orientation, which is integral to “The Nature of Mind” retreat experience.
  • Check-In time is 2:30pm, with orientation starting at 4.30pm.
  • Massages/Treatments begin at 3pm for pre-existing bookings. These are non-transferrable if you are late or unable to attend.
  • A light snack will be provided upon arrival however lunch is advised prior to avoid being hungry prior to dinner.
  • Check-Out and the conclusion of retreat is precisely at 10am on Sunday morning after breakfast. Guests are encouraged to pack and be ready to vacate by 9:30am.

Retreat Facilities

Bedrooms

  • 10 x King size 30m2 bedrooms, all with private ensuite and expansive windows showcasing the Byron Bay hinterland and SOMA grounds.
  • 100% linen bedspreads.
  • Organic 100ml SOMA x Mukti toiletries in each room for guests use.
  • All rooms include 2 x body towels, 2 x face towels in room.
  • All rooms include air conditioning and heating units.

Facilities

  • Deck and Freshwater Infinity Pool – heated in winter.
  • Oversize fire pit for sunsets and group gatherings.
  • 122m2 geodesic Yoga and Meditation dome.
  • Walks through the lush bamboo and lychee forests on the property.
  • Hanging nest chair under a majestic 200-year old fig tree.
  • Two treatment rooms, and private in-room massage available.
  • Spring fed dam with outdoor seating.
  • Infra-red sauna and ice bath (9am-6pm) – additional towels provided.
  • Seven-metre-long dining table with customised designed furniture for community dining.
  • Inspiring artwork and imagery from local Australian artists.

Payment Details

  • Upfront Payment, in full, is required.
  • Once payment is made, the retreat date and room you selected will be confirmed.

Cancellation Policy

We strive to create an intimate community atmosphere during your stay and as a result, we can only accommodate a limited number of guests. It is the responsibility of the guest to read, understand and agree to our Cancellation Policy before booking with us.

  • If you wish to cancel a booking and the request is received with more than 60-days notice before your arrival date, you will be offered the opportunity to reschedule to an available date.
  • Cancellations received 60-days before your arrival date, will not receive a refund nor able to move retreat dates.
  • If you fail to arrive on the date of your retreat stay, arrive on a date other than your confirmed booking date, or you leave early, your payment is non-refundable and the booking is non-transferrable to another date.
  • You are able to transfer your retreat to a family member or friend to avoid the cancellation policy, only if they are a suitable candidate that has been screened by Good Journeying’s staff.
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances where Good Journeying Pty Ltd are unable to host a retreat on a prescheduled date, our guests will be given an option of a full refund or a credit for a retreat to be held within 12 months from the prescheduled date.

Refund Policy

  • It is essential that you inform management of any health risks that may have occurred after your initial booking consultation to make sure you are still eligible for participation prior to retreat. If you are not eligible and we are unable to provide you with a safe environment with suitable care, you will be asked to leave as a duty of care, with no refund.
  • No refunds will be given on early departure and any outstanding balance will be deducted from the credit card provided.
  • Should you not wish to participate in the program you will not receive a refund for any unattended activities.

Good Journeying Prizes

  • Good Journeying prizes are transferable to a friend, colleague or family member with medical clearance and approval by Good Journeying. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Prizes must be used on a date that is specified by Good Journeying.

Good Journeying Vouchers

  • All vouchers are applicable for use towards Good Journeying retreats, various treatments, as well as merchandise. It is important to note that Good Journeying vouchers hold no cash redemption value.  Additionally, all vouchers carry a validity period of 24 months from the date of their acquisition.  To facilitate the utilisation of a voucher we request that you reach out to the Good Journeying team via email at hello@goodjourneying.com. Vouchers are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.

Insurance

We know that sometimes plans change so we recommend that all our guests secure comprehensive travel insurance prior to a stay at our retreat. We strongly suggest choosing a policy that will cover sickness or unpredictable circumstances that may require you to change your plans. Even if you live locally and are driving to the retreat, please remember that you are booking a complete holiday/package that is non-refundable should an unplanned situation arise.

Please consider the following when choosing your policy:

  • Cancellation fees
  • Lost deposits
  • Additional expenses for accidental injury, sickness and hospitalisation
  • Medical evacuation
  • Luggage and personal effects
  • Travel delay and alternative transport expenses
  • Personal liability
  • Good Journeying does not take any responsibility for changes in travel plans, change of mind, or transport changes.
  • When organising insurance, ensure you read the product disclosure statement to select the most suitable cover policy for you. Good Journeying is not responsible or liable for any costs associated with changes to your travel arrangements.

Travel & Your Health

  • Guests requiring medication, pharmaceuticals, or EpiPen are responsible for bringing, maintaining and using these at Good Journeying retreats, as per the advice of their medical practitioner.
  • In the case of an emergency, please note, the closest hospital is a 10-minute drive from SOMA to Byron Bay and an ambulance will be requested if the journey to hospital is required during your stay.

Force Majeure

Good Journeying will not be in breach of this agreement, or any way liable to any party, if it is prevented from complying with this agreement by reason of act of god, act of public enemy, act of terrorism, war, earthquake, riot, explosion, pandemic, compliance with any law or government restraint order, rule regulations, strike, lockout or any other cause not reasonable within the control of Good Journeying Pty Ltd. In the event of a force majeure, Good Journeying Pty Ltd will seek to move the retreat date within 12-months from the original booking window.

Additional Charges

  • Additional charges will be added to your final bill for all additional purchased merchandise and/or treatments.
  • All damages, breakages and missing items will be charged to the final account.
  • Anyone departing after 10am on Check-Out day.
  • Any additional charges will automatically be charged to the credit card provided as security for the booking following at least one attempt in contacting the credit card holder.
  • If any SOMA products are removed from the property such as Organic 100ml Soma or Mukti products this will be an additional charge to your credit card upon departure.

Parking Policy

  • Under no circumstances should any car be parked on the grass or anywhere outside of the allocated parking. An additional charge of $1,000 will be issued if any car is not parked in the allocated parking areas.

Legal Responsibility

  • A waiver will be supplied prior to retreat to all participants wishing to participate in activities that involve personal risk.
  • It is essential that you inform management of any health risks that may occur after your initial booking consultation to make sure you are still eligible for participation. If you are not eligible and we are unable to provide you with a safe environment with suitable care, you will be asked to leave as a duty of care, with no refund.
  • Exercise safely and cease if health issues arise.
  • Good Journeying will not be held responsible for any breakage, loss or theft of personal items.
  • Good Journeying is not liable for personal injury or damage.
  • Privacy Policy (https://goodjourneying.com/provacy-policy) applies to personal information collected.

Use of Wet Areas

  • We provide our guests with a cold plunge and infra-red sauna. This wet area has safety rules that need to be abided by for your own safety.
  • We have a dress standard requiring adequate coverage at all times around the retreat.

Laundry

  • All our guests will be provided one towel with no change over of linen for the duration of their stay, so we can stay aligned with our sustainability policy and beliefs.
  • Our retreat environment does not offer laundry facilities.

Digital Wellbeing Policy

  • We are a digital-free environment (which includes all laptops, tablets and mobile devices), so that our guests experience more white space for rest and rejuvenation.
  • Devices can be used privately (in your private room), and for discreet photos at the completion of retreat only.

Shooting Content at SOMA

  • During your stay, professional shoot (photography, videography, aerial image or footage) is not permitted.
  • For formal photo shoots, you must enquire to SOMA.
  • Failure for non-compliance, guests will be asked to leave the property with no refund or transfers available.

Privacy Policy & Photography

  • No camera or posting photos of our guests or staff on social media platforms without permission. This is a criminal offence.
  • All of our guests are VIP’s and protecting their privacy is our priority.
  • We are committed to providing you with the highest level of customer service and this includes protecting your privacy. Good Journeying’s team or third-party providers who assist us only access information we collect.  Information will not be disclosed to any other party unless prior agreement is sought from you.  The Commonwealth Privacy Act binds Good Journeying and a copy of this Privacy Act is available on request.

Responsibility of Valuables

  • We the staff/management of Good Journeying will not be responsible for any breakage, loss or theft of personal items.

Accessibility

  • Soma is a residential property and although we do our best to make it accessible for all we are not required to have full disability access.
  • Soma retreat does not have wheelchair access
  • Should you have a disability we do have a downstairs room available with car access to the dome if you are able to come with a carer

Our all-inclusive packages are crafted to pamper you with delicious gourmet wholefood meals with locally sources seasonal foods, restorative daily movement classes, and educational seminars, all set within a backdrop of SOMA’s 22-acres of rainforest in Northern NSW Byron Bay to provide you with a comprehensive transformative experience.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully as these conditions incorporate the basis on which you use our Websites. By using our website, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to make hotel reservations for yourself or are legally authorised to make the reservations and purchases for another person. The Website is operated from Australia and is governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You agree to submit to the laws of Australia in your use of our Website.

9. Severability:

If any part of these terms and conditions should be determined invalid by reason of the relevant laws, it shall be removed without affecting the rest of the terms and conditions. The remaining terms and conditions will continue to be valid and enforceable.
